This
month we are featuring a Boston area-non profit company, yogaHOPE. They
offer yoga-based programming to underserved women in recovery. They
recently reworked their curriculum to draw more heavily on research in
mind-body practices that support long-term traumatic stress recovery.
The results? Their mothers are now going home and teaching their
daughters breathing exercises. Some of the women they have helped are
using pranayama in court to cope with anxiety.
They
are truly always devoted to making yoga accessible, by offing their
programming on-site at rehabilitation centers, prisons, and other
centers that provide support to those recovering from domestic
violence, self-sufficiency from homelessness and drug addiction.
yogaHOPE programs help over 350 disadvantaged women every year.
