About Us
Our mission
At kulae, we are on a twofold mission to provide the most stylish + eco-friendly yoga gear on the planet while truly living by our mantra "karma's real".
Our name
The name kulae was derived from the word kula. Kula is a word from the Sanskrit language meaning community. Sanscrit is an ancient language of India. The letter "e" in Sanskrit pluralizes a word like the letter "s" does in the English language. This is why an "e" was added to the end of kula to be kulae. Kulae is a meaning of communities coming together and working together to help maintain healthy people on a healthy planet.
Our product
We have built the finest eco yoga mats on the market with the tpECOmat™ family of mats. All lines of our tpECOmats are 100% biodegradable, 100% recyclable, and contain NO PVC, NO latex, NO cadmium, NO lead and NO rubber (that means NO allergies). Our eco yoga mats are dual layer constructed, providing two color options and two distinct, grippy surfaces for you to choose, all in one mat.
Our eco mats are made of eco-conscious TPE using closed cell technology. What that means for you is that bacteria and germs cannot get "trapped" in the mat, as is the case with most natural rubber mats and traditional PVC mats (which use open cell construction). You will get the grip of a traditional "sticky" mat without the smell, the heavy carrying weight and lingering odors found in traditional rubber/PVC mats.
The durability, comfort and traction of the tpECOmat™ family of mats are second to none. We're so confident you will love your kulae eco yoga mat, that we guarantee your satisfaction 100%. But, our mission doesn't stop with the tpECOmat™. Our yoga straps are made of 100% cotton. We use 100% renewable Portuguese cork instead of foam for our blocks. Our yoga mat cleaner is 100% certified organic. The list goes on. Just know that we are working very hard to ensure that your yoga + fitness experience is in concert with the world in which we live.
Our lifestyle
What goes around comes around, we all have a responsibility to our communities and to each other. With that in mind, a generous portion of our proceeds and time are donated to various charities. So far this year, we have partnered with Yokid + Mandala House to focus our charity work within the yoga community. Check out their websites at
